All chocolate originates from the cacao pod. Usually, the poor cacao is roasted, combined with sugar, slapped about a bit, heated up, heated up some more then mixed with emulsifiers! All it's cacao superness, gone. Yet historically humans revelled in it's rawness. The ancient Aztecs believed eating raw cacao blessed them and had an annual festival to celebrate it. They even traded it as money. We’re determined to get raw cacao and all its goodness back on the menu.
Organically grown in Peru and raw processed (our cacao isn’t roasted). With the nutrients intact you experience all the raw chocolate goodness – and none of the guilt. Just as nature intended!
Our cacao beans are removed from the pod, gently fermented, washed and dried naturally to loosen skins. The skins are then removed and beans broke into cacao nibs. Cocoa butter is cold pressed from the nibs leaving a ‘cake’ which we mill into pure raw cacao powder. It’s fiddly, but means you get raw cacao goodness ready to go.
100% raw organic cacao and nothing else. Soil Association certified and Vegan Society registered for that extra piece of mind.
